GURDJIEFF'S WRITINGS

The most renowned of Gurdjieff's writings is his Beelzebub's Tales to his Grandson or All and Everything, 1st Series.

To give an impression of this work, we give a sketch of some of its characters. These are simplistic compilations just to give a taste. The drawings shown here were made by Bob Jefferson and represent an attempt to bring them to life. The drawing shown here is Bob's wonderful evocation of Gurdjieff's tale of mystical space ships and the cosmic drama.

It seems that Gurdjieff hoped his book would become a resource for artists and poets of future generations. The great French scholar Denis Saurat recognised Beelzebub's Tales as a remarkable creation of a new mythology. See and read about some of the characters portrayed in Beelzebub's Tales and use your own imagination.

Gurdjieff always recommended that Beelzebub be read aloud. He even spoke of having 'clubs' set up where it would be read and discussed. We thought it desirable to have readings available on CD for people to listen to as they drove or when they could not find someone courageous enough to tackle Gurdjieff's prose. Our apologies for any misreading of Gurdjieff's neologisms. This section on readings also contains information on other CD material.
